Carlos Santana almost apologizes for saying Beyoncé is just a “model”

Yesterday, we reported that Ice-T and Carlos Santana were two of the only people in the whole world who really thought that Adele deserved to win Album Of The Year at Sunday’s Grammy Awards. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but Santana also said that he didn’t think Beyoncé deserved to win because her music is “more like modeling” and that she’s not really a “singer, singer.” Naturally, that was a pretty controversial thing to say, so Santana has now posted a message on Facebook hoping to “clarify” what he meant (via Stereogum):

Of course, like every “apology” from a famous person, this one doesn’t actually say “I’m sorry” or “I apologize,” so it’s more about telling everyone else that they’re wrong than it is about Santana admitting that he said a dumb thing. Thankfully, this particular dumb thing is less of an earworm than ”Smooth” was, so at least we won’t have to keep hearing about it for the rest of our lives.
