Carrie Brownstein and Amy Poehler performed an impromptu wedding last night
Carrie Brownstein is many things, including a member of Sleater-Kinney, star of Portlandia, and author of the book Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl. She’s also, as it turns out, an ordained minister. That came in handy at her book event last night in L.A. when, during a run of audience questions, a couple asked Brownstein if she’d marry them onstage right then and there. She said yes, with chat host Amy Poehler helping out by playing the first half of “Greensleeves” on the piano—a move that’s understandable, considering that’s the only thing she says she knows how to play. There’s a slightly blurry fan-shot video of the whole thing below, but even from far away and with a bit of a haze, the whole thing looks as charming as can be.
