Carrie Fisher coming to HBO in one-woman special, guest shot on Entourage
Having successfully turned her stalled career momentum into its own form of career momentum, Carrie Fisher’s recent self-deprecating autobiography, Wishful Drinking, will find its way to HBO as a feature-length documentary, to be adapted from her hit one-woman show of the same name. Both the memoir and the performance find Fisher waxing cynical over her experiences in Hollywood—including the relationship travails of her mother, Debbie Reynolds, alongside her own rocky romance with Paul Simon, her struggles with substance abuse, and a whole truckload of Star Wars riffs—and the documentary will combine scenes of Fisher delving into them on stage with archival footage and interviews with friends and family. There’s no première date yet for Wishful Drinking, but Fisher will also be seen very soon on HBO in a (possibly) recurring role on Entourage, in which she plays a blogger for Deadline Hollywood.
