Cartoon Network sets new shows from Adventure Time, Steven Universe vets
Adventure Time is rapidly approaching its end, but fans of the show shouldn’t worry about Cartoon Network suddenly abandoning the crucial “adults who watch cartoons” demographic just yet. First, Teen Titans Go! is still on and it’s still great, Second, the network has just revealed its programming slate for the 2017-2018 season, and it includes a handful of new projects from people who used to work on adult-approved shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe. This comes from Deadline, which reports that Cartoon Network will have six new shows and seven returning shows this year, with the returning shows being We Bare Bears, the rebooted Powerpuff Girls, Mighty Magiswords, The Amazing World Of Gumball, Steven Universe, the aforementioned Teen Titans Go!, and Adventure Time—at least for a bit longer.
As for the new shows, they include stuff that Cartoon Network has already been promoting, like the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs cartoon and the fifth Ben 10 series since 2005, as well as Summer Camp Island, an animated series based on a critically acclaimed short created by Adventure Time writer Julia Pott. There’s also Apple & Onion, a show about having sophisticated food adventures that was created by The Amazing World Of Gumball’s George Gendi, and Craig Of The Creek, which is about a kid-ruled utopia and was created by Steven Universe writers Matt Burnett and Ben Levin.
