Cartoon Network wants you to pack up for its surreal Summer Camp Island

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Friday, July 6, and Saturday, July 7. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Summer Camp Island (Cartoon Network, 48-hour marathon starting at 6 a.m. Saturday): CN’s Summer Camp Island is unlike any other summer camp: The counselors are all witches, your pajamas talk to you, and there’s a parallel universe in the Post-It Notes. Which means that the imaginative series will likely appeal to fans of similarly surreal shows like Adventure Time. Cartoon Network certainly hopes so, as it’s dropping the entire first season this weekend in a massive marathon of 20 15-minute episodes. By the end, you may actually glimpse weird things in your own Post-Its.

Regular coverage

Steven Universe (Cartoon Network, Friday, 7:30 p.m.)
The Great British Baking Show (PBS, Friday, 9 p.m.)
Ducktales (Disney, Saturday, 9:30 a.m.)

Wild card

Flavors Of Youth (Netflix): Netflix is dropping its own new animated production this weekend. Flavors Of Youth is an anime film by CoMix Wave Films, makers of the huge Japanese hit Your Name. This new film seems to have a similar theme about two people bound together by fate. Netflix says:Told in three chapters in three cities, Flavors Of Youth explores the simple joys of life through sensual memories and how the beating heart of love cannot be defeated by the flow of time.” We say: The animation in the trailer looks stunning, so we’re adding this one to our must-watch list.
