Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael are developing a comedy for Hulu
We realize that seeing “Casey Wilson” “Hulu” and “comedy” all strung together in a sentence might raise hopes about Happy Endings finally being properly revived by the streaming company, which is sadly not the case here. But that disappointment will surely dissipate upon reading the rest of this post, for Vulture reports that Wilson is partnering up with June Diane Raphael again to develop a new comedy for Hulu. This potential series is just the latest collaboration between Hulu and Wilson, who was also one of the stars of The Hotwives. (See, Netflix? You don’t have to get stuck with Adam Sandler.)
The project is currently titled Unhinged, which will center on a woman with anger issues; it’s already in early stages of development. Wilson will personify that tempestuous temperament, but the idea for the project came from Raphael. The Happy Endings alum explored her own anger issues in a post for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter, in which she discussed being a “spirited” or “difficult” child and various other euphemisms. But the Ass Backwards scribes aren’t planning to mince words or apologize for flashes of anger in their new comedy: “We’re just now getting comfortable with our anger and able to look at it with fondness.”
