Catastrophe will have two more seasons to explore how shitty relationships are
Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan’s all-too-real comedy Catastrophe will be back to prove to you—as if you didn’t already know—that forming a lasting relationship with another person is damn near impossible. Channel 4 announced Tuesday that the show, which streams on Amazon, will be returning for a third and fourth season.
In an intentionally confusing statement, Delaney and Horgan said: “We are thrilled to be making a third series of Catastrophe. Rob and Sharon are a blast to spend time with. And we’re not talking about ourselves in the third person, we’re talking about the characters. We’re eager to breathe life back into Rob and Sharon. Okay, now we are talking about us. In the first series Rob and Sharon went through a lot (us) and even more in the second series (back to the characters). We’re looking forward to putting Rob and Sharon (both us and the characters) through further pain for your enjoyment (now we’re talking about you).”
Like the first, Catastrophe’s equally-good second season ended on an emotional cliffhanger with the question of infidelity hanging in the air, giving the duo plenty to explore come season three. Production on the third season will start in November, but in the meantime, you can satisfy your Horgan fix with the fall debut of her HBO show Divorce, starring Sarah Jessica Parker.
