CBS bids farewell to BrainDead, American Gothic
CBS has bid farewell to two summer shows you may or may not have known. Despite featuring a sex scene with documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, satire BrainDead has bitten the dust, along with family drama American Gothic. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, both got pretty bad ratings, but at least BrainDead was well-liked. The A.V. Club called the show, which was created by The Good Wife’s Robert and Michelle King, “clever, brisk, and compelling.” BrainDead starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Tveit, and Tony Shaloub, and concerned an alien attack on D.C. in which bugs crawled into politicians’ brains. American Gothic, meanwhile, followed a family that suspected their patriarch might be a serial killer. Its executive producer, Corinne Brinkerhoff, has already jumped to The CW’s No Tomorrow. And there’s no need to worry about the Kings, who have that Good Wife spin-off in the works.
