Looks like CBS will have to spend part of the summer hiatus retooling one of its pilots: Deadline reports that although the network wants to move forward with the courtroom drama Doubt, it will recast the leads first. The drama, written by Grey’s Anatomy producers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, was missing from CBS’ upfronts—and in May, rumors began to swirl of a pilot reshoot.
KaDee Strickland (Private Practice) and Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) played the leads in the pilot of the show, whose premise sounds like a mashup of Bad Judge and Homeland: An attorney (Strickland) gets romantically involved with her client (Sears), who may or may not be guilty of a horrible crime. There’s no official word on why the two actors didn’t work out, but discerning TV fans everywhere can relax, because Laverne Cox, Dulé Hill, and Dreama Walker remain in the cast.
