CBS may have found a replacement for Craig Ferguson

The question of who will usurp Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show that you forgot you were meant to be asking may have been answered, as The Wrap reports that James Corden is set to take over the talk show following Ferguson’s departure this year. As evidenced by those on Twitter already praising Corden’s work on Gavin & Stacey and those appending “Who?” to his name, there’s a rather large divide between those familiar with Corden’s work and those who aren’t, and it’s called the Atlantic Ocean.

For the unfamiliar, Corden is an English actor who’s enjoyed great success not only with Gavin & Stacey, but as the lead in One Man, Two Guvnors, which netted him a Tony in 2012. He’s also co-starred in Fat Friends, appeared on Doctor Who, co-created the sketch show Horne & Corden, and guested on Dizzee Rascal’s 2010 World Cup anthem “Shout.” Or to put it in American terms, he plays the Baker in that trailer for Into The Woods.

While nothing is officially confirmed yet, if Corden does land the job, he would definitely satisfy the prerequisites established by Ferguson, of being someone from the U.K. who’s mostly unknown by Americans save for that one thing they saw him in.
