CBS picks up its first round of whole new shows about totally different cops and lawyers

Not to be outdone by their whippersnapper counterparts, CBS—who’s probably been up since around 6 a.m., while NBC and Fox were still sleeping the day away—has slowly begun picking up pilots for its own fall season, including a new Criminal Minds spin-off starring Forest Whitaker. That show should fit in nicely with the network’s typically heavy slate of police procedurals and legal dramas, which also includes the just-confirmed Defenders—about two “charismatic and fiery” Las Vegas attorneys, one of whom will be played by Jim Belushi—Tom Selleck in the “family cop show” Blue Bloods, and the remake of Hawaii Five-O. Cops and lawyers, coppin’ and lawyerin’ until America realizes it’s time for bed.
