CBS renews The Good Wife, Elementary, pretty much everything but CSI
Its bloodlust apparently satiated by the carnage of Friday’s cancelation spree, CBS has decided it’s had enough of severing TV shows from their networks for the time being. To this end, it’s renewed much of its current slate of drama programming, including The Good Wife, Elementary, Madam Secretary, Scorpion, Person Of Interest, Hawaii Five-0, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and—deep breath—NCIS: New Orleans. It has also renewed the unscripted series Survivor, Undercover Boss, The Amazing Race, 60 Minutes, and 48 Hours, as well as The Odd Couple. That series will join the already-renewed comedies Mike & Molly, Mom, 2 Broke Girls, and The Big Bang Theory, ensuring that at least one person reading this will get a “Bazinga!” T-shirt from a well-meaning aunt for their birthday again this year.
Some of these series have been big hits for CBS; a few, like Survivor, are small-screen institutions. Speaking of which, there’s one forensics-based acronym conspicuously missing from that list: CBS has yet to renew CSI for a 16th season. It hasn’t technically canceled CSI either, though, leaving the show to wait as CBS tries to figure out a way to send the procedural to the proverbial farm upstate with a little bit of dignity. Spinoff series CSI: Cyber, on the other hand, got renewed right away, because CBS doesn’t want to go without anything CSI-related on its schedule. Let’s not get crazy.
