CBS still wants a sitcom for The Daily Show's Rob Riggle, will now try pairing him with Robert Smigel
CBS is trying once more to make comedian and former Daily Show correspondent Rob Riggle a network star, developing a starring vehicle for him for a third consecutive season. This time, it’s promisingly paired him with Robert Smigel—he of Triumph The Insult Comic Dog and TV Funhouse—to create a half-hour comedy where Riggle will play “a gregarious guy who winds up as a real estate agent working for the nerd he made fun of in high school.” Not explicitly featured in the description but implied is that most episodes will find Riggle yelling boisterously and giving someone a high-five. I don't know, is that unfair? Obviously Riggle is a funny (and by all accounts, extremely nice) guy, but that just sort of seems like his thing, no? There’s no shame in finding your niche.
