CBS won't do anything about Les Moonves yet, but it is launching an investigation

We’re still trying to determine whether or not Tom Cruise has a death wish or if he’s truly an immortal, especially since Mission: Impossible—Fallout is shaping up to be another big hit, but now it’s time for Cruise to go back to wherever he sleeps off his Mission: Impossible injuries until the next movie comes along. We’ve got other pop culture news to talk about, and while none of them involve high-flying stunts, they’re all important in their own way. (Alright, some might involve stunts. We’re not trying to stop you from reading.)

  • Last week, a New Yorker exposé detailed allegations of sexual misconduct against CBS president Les Moonves. Today, the network has announced that it won’t be doing anything about Moonves yet, but it is launching an independent investigation into the claims that he forcibly kissed or touched women while at work and retaliated against some women who rejected his advances.   • The world got really excited about the recent royal wedding for some reason, so MTV International has decided that royalty in general must be pretty hot these days. Because of that, it has announced a new reality show called The Royal World that will follow the lives of nine “young royals and aristocrats” including a “royally connected American” (whatever that means). [via The Hollywood Reporter]
  • Podcaster and comedian Kid Fury is teaming up with Lena Waithe for a new comedy series that will be about “a 20-something sarcastic black man navigating adulthood and responsibility in New York” while dealing with his undiagnosed depression. This comes just days after Showtime gave Waithe a first-look deal, so it’s surprising that she’s already working on a new show for a different premium cable network. [via Variety]
  • Secretary writer Erin Cressida Wilson is writing a new version of Indecent Proposal, the ‘90s classic about a rich guy offering to give a non-rich guy $1 million to sleep with his wife. We don’t know any specifics about how this new version will differ from the old version, but Deadline wonders how it might be impacted by the “the politics of the #MeToo movement.”
  • Hereditary was a lot of fun, the sort of delightful romp that just makes you want to see what director Ari Aster comes up with next (just kidding, it was super scary). We still don’t know what Aster’s next movie will be, but we do know that it will star Florence Pugh… and that’s it. We don’t know anything else. Spooky! [via Variety]
