Celestial Clockwork

Celestial Clockwork

A Venezuelan woman, obsessed with opera and herself an aspiring singer, flees her wedding during the vows and flies to Paris. Arriving still in her wedding dress, she falls in with a group of bohemian types and begins to pursue her dreams with the help of a group of offbeat characters. That's about all there is to Celestial Clockwork, a light-hearted fantasy with a flair for the visual and comic which seems inspired by Pedro Almodovar's films. Ariadna Gil is lovely but frustratingly one-note in the lead, and the movie never seems to find the pitch of heightened whimsy it aspires to achieve. But as a breezy, warm piece of eye candy, it contains enough inspired moments to make it worth seeing.
