Chainsaw Kittens founder Tyson Meade has a new, very weird music video
Tyson Meade has long been considered a bit of an alt-rock godfather. The Chainsaw Kittens and Defenestration frontman influenced everyone from Nirvana to the Flaming Lips before disappearing from the music world for a while. Now he’s back after a stint in Shanghai, where his artistic spirit was supposedly reawakened by a adolescent violin prodigy named Haffijy. Whether you believe that or not, Meade’s new solo record, Tomorrow In Progress is good news to all his fans, and hits stores May 20. Haffijy appears on some of the tracks, as do guests like The Smashing Pumpkins’ Jimmy Chamberlin, The Flaming Lips’ Derek Brown, and members of Other Lives.
Below, The A.V. Club has the premiere of the video for the album’s second single, “Nihilists Need Love Too.” Chock full of cross-dressing actors, awkward dancing, and various John Watersian methods of performance art, it’s one of those clips that has to be seen to really be believed.
