Chance The Rapper is making his film debut in a pizza delivery thriller

Chance the Rapper is embarking on his acting career with a role in a feature called Slice, which somehow involves serial killing and pizza delivery. He announced the news yesterday in a tweet featuring a cryptic video.

The film, which was shot in Chicago this past summer, was directed by Austin Vesely, a collaborator of Chance’s. A24 revealed yesterday that it produced the film and will release it sometime in the second half of 2017. The logline per their release? “The movie takes place in mysterious city, and centers around an enigmatic outlaw framed for a killing spree that targets unsuspecting pizza delivery boys.” Intriguing certainly. Though that’s not much to go on, Vesely described his concept for the film in an interview with RedEye Chicago in 2015. He explained it was inspired by George Saunders’ CivilWarLand In Bad Decline, and has shades of Paul Thomas Anderson. Additionally, he revealed that Chance plays Dax Lycander, “a werewolf who is a former Chinese food delivery driver.” It’s unclear if any of the details of the plot have changed since that piece came out, but this all sounds appropriately, enticingly bonkers.
