Charlie Brown tries to prove he’s not a loser in the new Peanuts trailer

To put it nicely, Charlie Brown has never been a cool kid. Sure, he’s got that endearing underdog charm, but come on. He’s a loser. In this new trailer for the computer-generated Peanuts movie, Charlie Brown confronts that fact directly. He’s tired of being perceived as a loser, so he enlists the help of a Who song and his trusty dog to turn his life around. Seeing as how he’s Charlie Brown, though, it doesn’t exactly work out—in the trailer, at least. Maybe it will in the actual movie, but we wouldn’t count on it. The trailer also shows off quick looks at most of the Peanuts supporting cast, including Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty, and Schroeder, and at the risk of coming across as uncharacteristically optimistic, we think the animation and art style actually look pretty cool. Trying to replicate the cartoon/comic strip style is certainly more interesting than seeing Charlie Brown turned into a freakish Alvin And The Chipmunks-style creation.

Peanuts, which was directed by Steve Martino, will be in theaters on November 6.
