Charlie Louvin's new album: collaborative as hell

Maybe it's just everyone learning the hard way from the death of Johnny Cash, but holy hell, do the younger folks ever want to collaborate with 79-year-old country stalwart Charlie Louvin's new self-titled album, due out in February. The variety of guest performers alone should be a huge draw, judging by a story on Billboard.com.

Why not just name names: George Jones, Elvis Costello, Marty Stuart, Jeff Tweedy, Will Oldham, Bobby Bare Sr., Eef Barzelay, Kurt Wagner…. On the one hand, you might say, this could be a cynical way of milking old country singers for all they're worth. But if admirers like that are happy enough to sign up in droves, why not embrace it?
