Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg are starring in a 9/11 drama

Look out, World Trade Center: There’s a new project about 9/11 with an on-the-nose title happening. In news that sounds like it was constructed during a particularly idiosyncratic game of Mad Libs, Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg are teaming up for a new action-drama. Variety reports the two are signed on for a film set in the World Trade Center on September 11, titled Nine Eleven, because no one wants to be accused of false advertising on this one.

Nine Eleven tells the story of five individuals who get “trapped in an elevator in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, and their struggle to survive.” The other three members of the cast are Luis Guzmán, Wood Harris, and Olga Fonda. The entire production will be shot in Long Beach, California, the better to capture that easygoing beach-bum vibe so prevalent in New York City on that fateful day. Directed by Martin Guigui (Beneath The Darkness, Cattle Call) and co-written by Steven Golebiowski and Guigui, shooting on the production begins today, unless this is just some elaborate promotional stunt for The View.
