Charlize Theron to play Megyn Kelly in Jay Roach's Roger Ailes movie

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlize Theron has signed on to play former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly in a yet-untitled movie about Roger Ailes—the disgraced network head who left Fox News over sexual harassment allegations and then died because we all hated him so much. The movie will be directed by Jay Roach, who directed the Sarah Palin-centric Game Change (and the Austin Powers series, baby), and The Hollywood Reporter says it will be an “ensemble pic” focusing on the “major players” at Fox News like Kelly, Gretchen Carlson, Greta Van Susteren, Rupert Murdoch, and Bill O’Reilly. That makes it sound sort of like Suicide Squad in the sense that it’s about a bunch of bad people who do bad things, but without whatever it was that people liked about Suicide Squad.

The Ailes movie is being produced by Annapurna Pictures, with the script coming from Oscar-winning Big Short co-writer Charles Randolph. Roach, meanwhile, is also attached to direct the TV adaptation of Fire And Fury, that book about Trump’s White House that—so far—hasn’t helped dismantle the Trump administration as much as we all hoped it would.
