Charmed gets a new showrunner and a renewed commitment to its supernatural roots

Now that CW’s Charmed reboot has managed to narrowly survive its first season, it’s time to bring in a new (set of) showrunner(s) and switch directions entirely.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Faking It alum Carter Covington has exited the remake and will be replaced with married duo Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro. The show is reportedly expected to lean more into its supernatural roots for the upcoming season and less on the family dynamics that made Covington an ideal head. Kruger and Shapiro’s credits include CBS’s Salvation and Extant (and Bravo’s Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce, which may have served as more of a benefit during season one).

Charmed isn’t the only show on the CW lot to shake up their roster. The sixth season of The Flash will welcome new showrunner Eric Wallace, who will be taking over for their current dude-in-charge Todd Helbing.
