Wisconsin’s Brett Newski rocks in the grand tradition of Billy Bragg (and, more recently, Frank Turner), blending the sound of driving folk into songs that have the spirit (and occasionally the sound) of punk. Newski wrote the bulk of his solid debut album American Folk Armageddon while, strangely enough, traveling through Asia, and this week he’s on tour in South Africa.
