Chewbacca howls his way through Hoobastank’s “Crawling In The Dark”

How far can a single, silly pun carry a musical mashup? And to what extent does the ineffable awesomeness of beloved Star Wars character Chewbacca trump the overall crumminess of decidedly non-beloved 2000s rock radio mainstays Hoobastank? The answers to these questions are provided by United Citizen Brigade’s Dan Chamberlain, who has combined the hirsute Wookiee with the post-grunge SoCal quartet to create an imaginary ensemble called Chewbastank. (This name may or may not refer to the lingering “wet dog” smell of the Millennium Falcon’s interior.) In Chamberlain’s version of “Crawling In The Dark,” a single from Hoobastank’s self-titled 2001 debut album, the aggressively ordinary lead vocals of Doug Robb have been tastefully removed and replaced with the various howls, groans, and growls of the famous Kashyyyk native and noted co-pilot. The improvement is immediately noticeable. If Chewbastank is a success, expect the Wookiee to pursue a Solo career.
