Chicago and Milwaukee, see raunchy holiday comedy, The Night Before, early and for free
Hoping to spread a decidedly more adult form of holiday cheer this year is Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine’s The Night Before, a one-crazy-night comedy that just happens to take place on Christmas Eve. When a trio of childhood buddies decide they’ve grown too old to continue their hard-partying ways, they vow to enjoy one final night of activities likely to get them on “The Naughty List.” In the roles of the three “wise” men, Levine has reunited his 50/50 stars, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen, and recruited the always-reliable charms of Anthony Mackie. The Night Before opens nationwide on November 20, but The A.V. Club and Sony Pictures have an opportunity for our readers in both Chicago and Milwaukee to catch it on November 16 for free. Remember: Advance screenings are often intentionally overbooked, so be sure to arrive early if you want to guarantee yourself a seat. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below.
“Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) have been friends since childhood, and for a decade, their yearly Christmas Eve reunion has been an annual night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is coming to an end, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball – the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.”
