Chicago, bear witness to The Battle Of The Sexes early and for free
Billie Jean King didn’t solve sexism (obviously) when she won the highly publicized 1973 tennis match against Bobby Riggs known as the “Battle of the Sexes,” but she did make the women of the world feel pretty good for a day or two. That same feel-good attitude runs through the film version of Battle Of The Sexes, starring Emma Stone as “the reserved but powerfully motivated” King and Steve Carell as “middle-aged compulsive gambler and clown” Riggs.
Those quotes come from our own Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, who saw Battle Of The Sexes at TIFF and calls it an “amiable, minor crowd-pleaser.” If you live in Chicago, you can find out for yourself next Tuesday, September 19, when Battle Of The Sexes gets an early screening at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema. We’re giving away 50 pairs of passes to the film; to claim yours, follow this link and enter the code “BOTSAVClub.” (That stands for “Battle Of The Sexes,” not the kind of bots you find on Twitter.) Just make sure you arrive early to ensure you get a seat.
Battle Of The Sexes opens in select Chicago theaters on September 22, and you can watch a trailer for the film below.
