Chicago, grab your board and roll into Skate Kitchen early and for free

Greetings, fellow kids! After about 15 minutes of browsing skate lingo glossaries online, we’ve decided to spare ourselves—and you—the indignity of attempting to use said terminology as if we had any idea what we were talking about. Instead, we’ll just let you know that Crystal Moselle, director of the 2015 documentary The Wolfpack, has a new movie coming out called Skate Kitchen. It’s Moselle’s first foray into narrative filmmaking, based on her experiences hanging out with skater girls in New York City. Newcomer Rachelle Vinberg stars as Camille, a shy teenager who falls in with a badass all-female skateboarding crew that calls itself Skate Kitchen. It premiered at this year’s Sundance film Festival, where it got great reviews. It sounds sick. (Pretty sure we used that one correctly.)

We’ve got an opportunity for our readers in Chicago to catch an early screening of Skate Kitchen next Thursday, August 9, at 7 p.m. at the AMC River East. We’ve got 150 pairs of tickets to give away, so follow this link and fill out some basic information to claim yours. Just don’t be late, because advance screenings are always overbooked to ensure capacity.
