Jason Reitman’s new film Tully hits theaters on May 4, reuniting the director, writer Diablo Cody, and star Charlize Theron—the team who ably skewered the final moments of rotting youthful freedom with 2011's Young Adult—to try their hand at motherhood instead. Starring Theron as a struggling mom, and Halt And Catch Fire’s Mackenzie Davis as the young “night nanny” hired to help her survive, the film promises a mixture of lighter comedy and heavy, “oh god, is this my life?” despair that should be familiar to anyone who’s made their way deep enough into the emotional jungles of their 30s and 40s.
