Chicago, see Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak early and for free

After a few major cast shake ups (Benedict Cumberbatch and Emma Stone had originally signed on to star), Guillermo Del Toro is finally ready to open the doors to Crimson Peak. Taking inspiration from films like The Innocents and The Haunting, Del Toro has been pretty vocal about defining his latest project as a gothic romance, rather than a traditional horror movie. In the film, Mia Wasikowska’s Edith Cushing gets caught up in the peculiar lives of the Sharpe siblings (Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain) at their titular estate, a creaky, isolated mansion with secrets of its own. Crimson Peak opens nationwide on October 16, but The A.V. Club and Universal have an opportunity for you to see it for free on Tuesday, October 13. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply follow the link here and enter your information. As usual, seats will be first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below:

“When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak. From the imagination of director Guillermo Del Toro comes a gothic romance starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, and Charlie Hunnam.”
