Anna Kendrick shakes things up in the new film, Happy Christmas. Kendrick plays Jenny, a young woman who is thrust into the reality of adulthood after a breakup forces her to move in with her brother and his wife. Will Jenny’s erratic behavior and questionable relationships push her family over the edge? Or will things resolve themselves just in time for Christmas, possibly making it a happy one? Only time and box office receipts will tell. The film opens July 25 at the Music Box Theater here in Chicago, and The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to attend a showing. “A budding novelist and her film director husband, Kelly (Melanie Lynskey) and Jeff (Joe Swanberg) and their two-year-old son live a peaceful existence in Chicago. But when Jeff’s irresponsible younger sister, Jenny (Anna Kendrick), comes to live with them after a breakup, things start to change. Jenny begins a rocky relationship with a baby sitter-cum-pot dealer (Mark Webber), and she and a friend, Carson (Lena Dunham), instigate an evolution in Kelly’s life, as her career and her relationship with her husband begin to grow in new directions.
