Chicago, see Kristen Stewart in Certain Women early and for free

In Certain Women, director Kelly Reichardt (Meek’s Cutoff, Wendy And Lucy) adapts the short stories of Maile Meloy to chart the lives of three Montana women, played by Laura Dern, Michelle Williams, and Kristen Stewart. Dern’s revolves around a situation with a client; Williams’ involves trying to buy sandstone; and Stewart’s features a relationship between a layer and a ranch hand. After seeing it at Sundance, A.A. Dowd wrote that “the material is perfectly suited to the filmmaker’s interests and strengths, its compact mini-narratives allowing her to focus almost exclusively on tiny details of character and environment.”

Certain Women officially arrives in Chicago October 21, but residents can sample it on October 17 thanks to The A.V. Club.
