Chicago, see Kubo And The Two Strings early and for free
The doldrums of summer are here, so why not enter one of the finely crafted stop-motion worlds of LAIKA? The studio behind Coraline and The Boxtrolls has another feature due out this summer, Kubo And The Two Strings. Set in Japan, Kubo is an adventure centered around a boy and his magical musical instrument, called a shamisen. The titular character is voiced by Rickon Stark himself, Art Parkinson, leading a cast that includes Charlize Theron and Matthew McConaughey as Kubo’s compatriots Monkey and Beetle, and Ralph Fiennes and Rooney Mara as baddies.
Kubo is due out August 19, but Chicagoans can sample it on August 16 thanks to The A.V. Club. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply enter your information here.
