Chicago, see Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant early and for free

Is this finally Leonardo DiCaprio’s big shot at Oscar glory? Whether or not The Revenant will score the actor an Academy Award, you can’t say he didn’t work his ass off for it, throwing himself head first into Alejandro González Iñárritu’s reportedly grueling production in the wilderness of both North and South America. The movie’s other big draw is the always welcome reunion of Iñárritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, a partnership which recently secured Best Director, Best Cinematographer, and Best Picture wins (among others) for Birdman. The Revenant comes to Chicago on January 8, but The A.V. Club and 20th Century Fox have an opportunity for you to see it for free on January 6. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply follow the link here and enter your information. Remember: Advance screenings are often intentionally overbooked, so be sure to arrive early if you want to guarantee yourself a seat. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below.

“Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.”
