Chicago, see M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit early and for free
After a few high profile sci-fi/fantasy flops (The Last Airbender and After Earth), M. Night Shyamalan is returning to his lower-budget roots with this fall’s The Visit. The found-footage film follows two kids on a trip to their grandparents’ house, where things pretty rapidly start to get creepy. Turns out grandma and grandpa aren’t trying to smother their grandchildren with kisses, they just want to smother them. The hilarious and talented Kathryn Hahn plays the kids’ mother, but, if the trailer is any indication, her role is mostly relegated to video chats and Skype calls. Of course, this is a Shyamalan movie, so maybe her calls are coming from… inside the house. The Visit opens in theaters everywhere on September 11, but The A.V. Club and Universal have an opportunity for you to see it for free on Tuesday, September 8. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply follow the link here and enter your information. As always, seats will be first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below.
“M. Night Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.”
