Chicago, see Melissa McCarthy in Tammy early and for free
Melissa McCarthy plays a woman down on her luck, and up on her love of pies in Tammy. After losing her job and husband, Tammy heads out on the road to Niagara Falls with her heavy-drinking grandmother (Susan Sarandon) in tow. Hilarity and pie eating ensue as the two women learn and grow—presumably from all the pie eating—with one another on their trip. The film opens nationwide on July 2, but The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to attend an early screening Monday June 30, here in Chicago. Simply follow the link here, and enter the RSVP code AVCLUBP4K0 for a chance to receive passes to the event. Remember, seating is first come, first serve; so arrive early! A full synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below.
“Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs”
