Chicago, see Reese Witherspoon in Wild early and for free

Jean-Marc Vallee directed Matthew McConaughey to Oscar glory with 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club, further legitimizing the McConaissance. This year, with the true-life tale Wild, Vallee may now be ushering us into the Witherspoonrising. Reese Witherspoon stars as Cheryl Strayed, a woman who attempts to leave her past behind by taking a solo trek on the Pacific Crest Trail. Wild, co-starring Laura Dern, Gaby Hoffmann, and Michiel Huisman, is an adaptation of Strayed’s best-selling memoir. The film opens in Chicago on December 5, but we’ve got an opportunity for you to see it for free a few days early on December 1. An official synopsis and trailer can be found below.

“In Wild, director Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club), Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon (Walk The Line) and Academy Award nominated screenwriter Nick Hornby (An Education) bring bestselling author Cheryl Strayed’s extraordinary adventure to the screen. After years of reckless behavior, a heroin addiction and the destruction of her marriage, Strayed makes a rash decision. Haunted by memories of her mother Bobbi (Academy Award nominee Laura Dern) and with absolutely no experience, she sets out to hike more than a thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail all on her own. Wild powerfully reveals her terrors and pleasures —as she forges ahead on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.”
