Chicago, see Robert De Niro and Zac Efron in Dirty Grandpa early and for free

Say what you will about Zac Efron, but one of his best roles to date was as conflicted frat boy Teddy in 2014’s raunchy Neighbors. It may not have made him the movie star Hollywood seems to want him to be, but it did prove that, given the right role, the guy has comedic chops. This year, Efron returns to the raunch-filled well in Dirty Grandpa, the second feature from frequent Sacha Baron Cohen-collaborator Dan Mazer. Alongside him as the titular dirty grandfather? None other than legendary actor Robert De Niro, who seems all too happy hamming it up in big studio comedies these days. Maybe he was charmed by Efron’s impression of him in Neighbors?

Dirty Grandpa opens nationwide on January 22, but The A.V. Club and Lionsgate have an opportunity for you to see it for free on January 19. An official plot synopsis and trailer for the film can be found below.

“Jason Kelly (Zac Efron) is one week away from marrying his boss’s uber-controlling daughter, putting him on the fast track for a partnership at the law firm. However, when the straight-laced Jason is tricked into driving his foul-mouthed grandfather, Dick (Robert De Niro), to Daytona for spring break, his pending nuptials are suddenly in jeopardy. Between riotous frat parties, bar fights, and an epic night of karaoke, Dick is on a quest to live his life to the fullest and bring Jason along for the ride. Ultimately, on the wildest journey of their lives, “dirty” Grandpa and his uptight grandson discover they can learn from one another and form the bond they never had.”
