Chicago, see SXSW horror hit A Quiet Place early, quietly, and for free

John Krasinski’s new horror film, A Quiet Place, received a warm welcome after a recent showing at SXSW, even if Krasinski himself—who co-wrote, directed, and stars in the film—jokingly questioned why anyone would make such a tense, jump-scare ridden film. Audiences, lured in by a premise that sees a family (Krasinski, his real-world wife Emily Blunt, and a bunch of too-noisy for their damn good kids) attempt to survive in a world where any sound summons a horde of bloodthirsty monsters, were a lot kinder, with our own Alex McLevy praising some of the film’s more striking horror set pieces.

If you’d like to see (and occasionally hear) the film for yourself, and you’re in the Chicago area, you’re in luck: We’ve got some free passes for an advance screening of the film, which opens on April 6. You can see it four days early, though, on April 2, at Chicago’s AMC River East at 7:00 p.m. All you need to do is get your passes here, be sure to get there early to secure yourself a seat, and, for the love of god, be quiet while the movie is playing. (Not because of monsters, mind you; because you’re a goddamned human being, and we’re trying to have a society here.)
