Chicago, see the J.J. Abrams-produced 10 Cloverfield Lane early and for free
Like Cloverfield before it, 10 Cloverfield Lane is all about the mystery. Its excellent trailer suggests it’s about three strangers forced to live together in an underground bunker, but it also hints that there’s much more going on beneath the surface (and on it). Seeing that the project is produced by J.J. Abrams, the ambiguity should come as no surprise—the real surprise will be whether or not first-time feature director Dan Trachtenberg can pull off such an ambitious project. Trachtenberg is responsible for that excellent Portal short film from a few years back, but 10 Cloverfield Lane is a different beast altogether. Luckily, he’s got an aces cast to bring his big-screen transition to life, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher Jr., and John Goodman in full-on menacing mode.
10 Cloverfield Lane hits theaters nationwide on March 11 but The A.V. Club and Paramount Pictures have an opportunity for you to see it for free on March 9.
