Chicago, see the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending early and for free

Chicago natives Andy and Lana Wachowski returned home to film part of their galaxy-spanning epic Jupiter Ascending. Though originally slated to premiere last summer, the film was pushed back to February to allow the Wachowskis time to complete the film’s “more than 2,000 special effects shots.” Beneath all of the digital spectacle, Mila Kunis stars as a sort of cosmic Snow White alongside Channing Tatum as a man-wolf space bounty hunter. So, yeah, it sounds pretty nuts. The film will finally make its debut on February 6, but The A.V. Club has an opportunity for you to win a pair of passes to an advanced screening on February 2. For your chance to win, simply follow the link here and enter the code AVC020215JA. As always, the screenings are first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early. You can find an official synopsis and trailer below.

“From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, Jupiter Ascending tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.”
