Chicago, see Tina Fey in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot early and for free
The comedic sensibility of directing duo John Requa and Glenn Ficarra is a bit hard to pin down. In the past they’ve gone absurdist with I Love You Phillip Morris, leaned on sentimentality in Crazy, Stupid, Love, and smirked their way through Focus. For their latest, they’ll be taking things in yet another direction by teaming with 30 Rock’s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock to star in and write (respectively) Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Based on Kim Barker’s memoir The Taliban Shuffle, the film will follow a stuck-in-a-rut reporter whose eyes are opened when she takes a new assignment in Afghanistan. Joining Fey is an intriguing cast including Martin Freeman, Margot Robbie, Billy Bob Thornton, and more.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot opens in theaters everywhere on March 4, but The A.V. Club and Paramount Pictures have an opportunity for you to see it for free on March 1.
