Chicago, see Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road early and for free
It’s going to be a jam-packed summer at the cinema, but nothing looks quite as mad as Mad Max: Fury Road. Director George Miller returns to the post-apocalyptic hellscape last seen in 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome with Tom Hardy in the role originated by Mel Gibson. This time around, Max finds himself involved in a wild goose chase between an angry Warlord (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and an Imperator (Charlize Theron) who has made off with his enslaved maidens. Mad Max: Fury Road opens nationwide on May 15, but The A.V. Club and Warner Bros. have an opportunity for you to see it for free on May 13. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply follow the link here and enter your information. As always, seats for screenings are first come, first serve, so be sure to arrive early. An official plot synopsis and trailer (which makes Furious 7 look like Cars) can be found below.
“From director George Miller, originator of the post-apocalyptic genre and mastermind behind the legendary Mad Max franchise, comes Mad Max: Fury Road, a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky. Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max (Tom Hardy) believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa (Charlize Theron). They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.”
