Chicago, succumb to the seductive charms of The Handmaiden early and for free

After spending the summer on the festival circuit—where it seduced The A.V. Club’s critics at both Cannes and Fantastic FestThe Handmaiden, the newest genre-defying outing from acclaimed Korean director Park Chan-wook, finally settles in to American theaters this month. Sensual, erotic, and surprisingly funny, this feminist tale of lesbian love wrapped inside a twisty Hitchcockian thriller tells the story of the love triangle between a Japanese noblewoman, her Japanese suitor, and her Korean maid—none of whom are who they appear to be on the surface—in 1930s Korea.

The Handmaiden opens at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre on Friday, October 28, but The A.V. Club is giving its readers the chance to swoon over this awards-season contender early and for free.

We’re hosting a screening at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema (2828 N. Clark Street) On Wednesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. To enter to win one of 50 pairs of passes to the film, just follow this link and enter your contact information. Remember: Advance screenings are often intentionally overbooked, so be sure to arrive early if you want to secure a seat. You can watch the trailer for The Handmaiden below.
