Chicago, take a trip to Boston for Patriots Day early and for free

Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg have become the go-to pair for intense dramas based on real life events, and Patriots Day is no different. In the film, Berg recreates the events surrounding the Boston Marathon Bombing, including the search for the Tsarnaev brothers. Wahlberg’s police officer is a composite character, but J.K. Simmons, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, Rachel Brosnahan, and Melissa Benoist all play real life figures.

The film takes place in Boston, but if you’re a Chicago resident, you can see the film on January 10 at 7 p.m.. All you have to do is enter your information here. Make sure you get to the AMC River East 21 early, though, as these showings tend to overbook. Patriots Day opens in wide release on January 13. Watch the trailer below.
