Chicago, take a trip to La La Land early and for free

If your idea of escapism is being sucked into a repeat viewing of Singin’ In The Rain, then La La Land should be right up your alley. Damien Chazelle’s musical stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling as a couple of Angelenos with big dreams who fall in love, strive, and duet. The movie is already being deemed an Oscar frontrunner, and The A.V. Club was a fan at the Toronto International Film Festival, where our own Ignatiy Vishnevetsky wrote: “It asks what the characters of a Cinemascope musical would have to dream about, and answers with a finale that lifts the film to a higher plane of wish fulfillment and melancholy.”

La La Land opens in Chicago on December 16, but you can see it at the AMC River East on December 13 at 7 p.m. if you simply enter your information here. These screenings do tend to fill up, so if you don’t want to miss out on all the singing and dancing be sure to get there early. Watch the trailer below.
