Chicago, win tickets to see Tobey Maguire as chess champ Bobby Fischer in Pawn Sacrifice

From Legends Of The Fall to The Last Samurai, director Edward Zwick has made a career out of staging epic battles and stirring dramas set against the backdrop of war, but his latest puts the conflict on a much smaller scale. Pawn Sacrifice tells the true story of the much ballyhooed chess match between American Bobby Fischer (Tobey Maguire) and Russian Boris Spassky (Liev Schreiber), a face off that garnered a lot of attention thanks to a little thing called the Cold War. The film opened in Chicago this past Friday and, if you’re hoping to check it out for yourself, The A.V. Club is giving away tickets to see it for free at any Chicago-area AMC theater. For your chance to win a pair of tickets, simply follow the link here and enter your information. In a gripping true story set during the height of the Cold War, American chess prodigy Bobby Fischer (Tobey Maguire) finds himself caught between two superpowers when he challenges the Soviet Empire. Also starring Liev Schreiber and Peter Sarsgaard, Pawn Sacrifice chronicles Fischer’s terrifying struggles with genius and madness, and the rise and fall of a kid from Brooklyn who captured the imagination of the world.
