Chicago, wish yourself a Happy Death Day early and for free
Have you heard about this movie Happy Death Day? It’s basically a horror riff on Groundhog Day, starring La La Land’s Jessica Rothe as a college student who keeps reliving the same day over and over again, with the twist that she gets murdered by a masked assailant at the end of each of those days. To break the cycle, she’s got to—you guessed it—figure out the identity of her killer. It’s probably not going to win any Oscars, but from the trailer, it does look like a bit of silly slasher fun.
You can find out for yourself—at least if you live in Chicago—tomorrow, October 10, when The A.V. Club hosts a screening of Happy Death Day at 7:00 pm at the AMC River East. We’re giving away 50 pairs of tickets to tomorrow night’s show; to enter, just follow this link and enter a few basic pieces of information. Just remember to arrive early, because these screenings are intentionally overbooked to ensure capacity crowds, and we’re only going to do this one once.
Happy Death Day opens on Friday, October 13; you can watch the trailer below.
