Childish Gambino postpones This Is America tour dates due to injury

Donald Glover’s career continues to skyrocket on film and television, but the Atlanta star has spent the early part of the fall bidding farewell to Childish Gambino, the musical arm of his multi-faceted persona. The last several weeks have seen him on the This Is America tour, a goodbye trek to coincide with a forthcoming album that’s said to be the project’s last, but an onstage injury is unfortunately putting it on hold.

TMZ reports that the Awaken, My Love! singer likely broke his foot during Sunday night’s Dallas concert, an injury that came after he aggravated an already existing foot injury—sources say he arrived to a set last Friday in a wheelchair and leg brace. Yesterday, Fam Rothstein of Glover’s creative agency Wolf + Rothstein took to Twitter to confirm that the tour had been postponed.

“This is America tour is postponed, not cancelled,” he wrote. “My guy played through the pain, but has to sit some dates out. Back before the years over.”

Los Angeles’ The Forum confirmed as much on Twitter, saying Childish Gambino’s Wednesday night gig is off but that tickets would be valid at “the newly scheduled date.”

It’s unclear whether Glover will be out for the entirety of the current dates. He’s got a handful of This Is America shows on the docket, as well as headlining slots at Austin City Limits and New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Experience.
