People must really love Matt Damon, as yet another star has joined the impressive ensemble that’s trying to rescue him from Mars. Deadline reports that Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined the Ridley Scott thriller about an astronaut stranded on the red plant. The 12 Years A Slave star will play Venkat Kapoor, the director of the Mars mission.
Previously announced cast members include Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig, and Michael Peña—all of whom will stare at computer monitors with their eyes wide and perhaps some sweat on their foreheads and utter things like, “He’s not gonna make it,” and “…My God.” Ejiofor undoubtedly will bring some necessary gravity (space puns are good for you) to the proceedings, but there’s no getting around that he’s probably in all the scenes where it’s okay for you to get up and go to the bathroom.
