Chloe Moretz cast as a prostitute in The Equalizer and in story we feel kind of weird writing

After director Antoine Fuqua confirmed to reunite with his Training Day star Denzel Washington and adapt ’80s TV show The Equalizer, the production seemed to have slipped into the sort of dangerously comfortable familiarity that can make one forget all about it—until you run across it years later on TNT and say, “Oh yeah, that movie where Denzel Washington is a cop or agent or whatever…” before getting on with your life. So, in order to make everyone uncomfortable, The Equalizer has cast 16-year-old Chloe Moretz as a prostitute, which should definitely do it. Moretz, as Deadline reports, is a “surprise choice” for the film’s female lead, both because the role was originally written for a twentysomething woman, and because no one expected to be discussing Chloe Moretz as a sex worker today on the Internet without fear of federal reprisal. Nevertheless, Moretz reportedly impressed Washington during their “chemistry reading,” and so the part was rewritten for Moretz in the vein of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. It's sort of like what Harper’s Bazaar did in 2011, only without Keanu Reeves and with approximately 90 minutes more of feeling kind of weird about this.
